Shri Mahadev Toppo is a distinguished tribal writer, poet, and cultural activist whose works have been widely published in leading Hindi journals and magazines such as Dharmayug, Parikatha, Naya Gyanodaya, Vagarth, Sablog, Samayantar, India Today, Samkaleen Janmat, Vishwarang, Banas Jan, Jansatta, and Prabhat Khabar.
His major works include:
- Poetry Collection: Jungle Pahad Ke Path (translated into English, Marathi, and Santali)
- Essay Collection: Sabhyoon Ke Beech Adivasi (An Adivasi Among the Civilized)
- Several poems translated into German, English, Marathi, Telugu, Sanskrit, Santali, and Assamese, also included in anthologies.
Contributions to Arts & Culture
- Acted in the Kurukh film Pahada and in the award-winning film Edpa Kana (Going Home), which received both national and international recognition.
- Writes short plays in his mother tongue, Kurukh.

Recipient of multiple awards, including the Birsa Munda Samman, for his outstanding contribution to tribal literature and culture.
